Lightning Rod is the previous term, in the People's Republic of China National standard gb50057-2010 "Building Lightning Protection Design Code", has abandoned this name, and replaced by ' Flash lever '.
The flash rod and the Flash belt, the Flash line, the Flash net, the metal roof used to connect the flash, the metal member, etc., collectively referred to as the flashover; the flashover and the lead line, the grounding device together constitute the external lightning protection device of the building or structure, to avoid or reduce the physical damage and personal injury caused by lightning hitting the building (structure) The reason for renaming the Lightning rod as a flash lever is because the previous name is not scientific and does not reflect the principle of the flash lever. When the lightning rod first appeared in China, people thought it could prevent the house from being struck by lightning, so it was called a lightning rod. But in fact, the way the lightning rod protects the building is not to prevent the house from being struck by lightning, but to mine the upper body, and then through its lead line and grounding device, the Lightning current is introduced into the ground, thus playing a role in protecting the building. It is for this reason that it has also been suggested that the lightning rod be renamed the Lightning Needle, but in general, the name of the Flash rod is the most appropriate.
